October 19, 2026 1,423 views

Typing Tamil in Adobe Photoshop or Premiere Pro is often frustrating due to broken letters (split kombu, disconnected pulli, or rearranged vowel markers). In this complete guide, we show you how to enable proper Indic / South Asian text engine in Photoshop and type flawlessly using both Unicode and Bamini fonts.

Step 1: Enable Indic World-Ready Layout in Photoshop

Open Photoshop, go to Preferences > Type. Under Choose Text Engine Options, select World-Ready Layout (or East Asian / South Asian depending on your version). Click OK and restart Photoshop.

Step 2: Install Tamil Unicode Fonts

Download free TTF fonts from TamilFont.in like Mukta Malar or Baloo Thambi 2. Right-click the .ttf file and choose Install for all users.

Step 3: Using Bamini Fonts in Photoshop

If you prefer typewriter Bamini fonts for flex banners and wedding invitations, convert your Tamil text using our Bamini Converter, copy the converted ASCII text, select Bamini font in Photoshop, and paste. It renders 100% accurately without any letter breaks!
